About
Henry Rankin is a violinist, violist and composer in high demand across the UK and abroad. He studied both violin and viola at the Royal Northern College of Music and music at the University of Manchester.
Henry has a love of performance and composition and balances both within a varied and eclectic freelance career. He performs with classical ensembles and orchestras across the UK (Northern Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Camerata). As a session musician Henry has worked with artists such as Yann Tierson, Sam Fender, Everything Everything, Billie Marten, Chloe Foy and The Travelling Band, and at festivals and venues such as SXSW and Wembley Arena. Henry is also leader of the Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra.
As a composer Henry has registered credits on BBC One, BBC Two and the National Geographic Channel, and with co-writer Oliver Mayo, has multiple albums signed to EMI label ‘Sparkle and Burn’ and Soho Production Music. Henry is currently working on a commissioned piece for the Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra.
Henry believes musicians have a duty to teach and takes pride in fostering the next generation of musicians.
